Admission Requirements
A bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent as recognized by the Graduate School of Science, Kyoto University.
Admission Procedures
- Privately supported students
Privately supported international students must pass the same entrance examination as Japanese applicants. The dates for the entrance examination and application deadlines are announced in May.
- Government supported students
Government supported international students are not required to take the entrance examination; however, they must pass the qualifying examinations in English given by the Admissions Committee. The applicant is advised to contact his/her supporting faculty member for details and updates regarding the examination.
- English proficiency examination
A written English language proficiency examination is required for the applicants who are non-native speakers of English. However, this examination may be waived for an applicant if his/her TOEFL score meets the Admissions Committee's requirements. - Written examination in chemistry
This written examination covers the applicant's chosen field of research and an additional subject related to the field.
- Oral examination
Interviews are conducted by the members of the Admissions Committee.
